Eric Bernicker, MD
Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in Oncology

Dr. Bernicker earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX in 1990. Subsequently, he completed his residency at Baylor Affiliated Hospitals and was chief medical resident at Ben Taub General Hospital from 1993–1994. Dr. Bernicker held a faculty appointment at Baylor College of Medicine as a clinical assistant professor from 1996–2012 before joining the Houston Methodist Cancer Center in January 2013, where he serves as director of Medical Thoracic Oncology. As a physician-scientist, Dr. Bernicker oversees the expansion of clinical trials at The Methodist Hospital relating to Thoracic Oncology with all stages of disease, a combination of SWOG trials, and industry trials of novel targeted agents.

Charu Aggarwal, MD, MPH

Dr. Aggarwal specializes in the management of patients with lung and head and neck cancer. Her clinical research focus is on the development of novel immunotherapeutic approaches, and the discovery and application of biomarkers to guide therapy and monitor treatment. She serves as the local and national principal investigator for multiple clinical trials focusing on the development of targeted immunotherapy approaches including cellular therapy and CAR-T for solid tumors.
Prithviraj Bose, MD

In the Department of Leukemia at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Bose’s major clinical and research focus is on myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). He works closely with Dr. Srdan Verstovsek, chief of the section of MPNs. Dr. Bose is also heavily involved in clinical trial design for patients with MPN, and also in other areas of MPN research. He is leading a number of important therapeutic clinical trials in myelofibrosis at MDACC, as well as in other MPNs such as essential thrombocythemia and systemic mastocytosis. He has presented his research at international conferences and regularly speaks on MPN topics. Dr. Bose’s other area of interest is chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). His clinical practice consists largely of patients with MPNs or CLL, although he also treats many patients with MDS, CML and acute leukemias.
Jenny Chang, MD

Dr. Jenny C. Chang is the Director of Houston Methodist Cancer Center and Emily Herrmann Chair in Cancer Research in Houston, Texas. She obtained her medical degree at Cambridge University in England, and then completed fellowship training in medical oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital/Institute for Cancer Research in the United Kingdom. She was also awarded a research doctorate from the University of London. Her recent work has focused on the intrinsic therapy resistance of cancer stem cells, which has led to several publications and international presentations. Dr. Chang’s clinical research aims to evaluate novel biologic agents in breast cancer patients.
Jill Feldman
Patient Advocate
Jill Feldman is a lung cancer patient and activist. When Jill was 13 years old, she lost her father and two grandparents to lung cancer within a period of eight months. Fourteen years later, her mom and close aunt succumbed to the disease within a two-year period. Jill was a volunteer, an advocate and past president of LUNGevity Foundation before the unthinkable happened. In 2009, at 39 years old with four small children, Jill herself was diagnosed with lung cancer. Jill continues to be involved with LUNGevity and remains on their patient advisory board. She is also a member of IASLC’s patient advisory board and The Chicago Institute of Translational Medicine’s patient advisory board.
Tracy George, MD

Dr. George is a professor of pathology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. She completed her MD and residency training in anatomic pathology and laboratory medicine at the University of California San Francisco, with fellowships in hematopathology and surgical pathology at Stanford University. Dr. George is board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and hematology by the American Board of Pathology. Her research interests include mast cell disease and laboratory hematology. Dr. George has authored more than 100 publications and she is President-Elect for the International Society for Laboratory Hematology. She received the College of American Pathologists Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014.

Sinchita Roy-Chowdhuri, MD, PhD

Dr. Roy-Chowdhuri is an assistant professor at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) in Houston, Texas specializing in cytopathology and molecular pathology. She is currently the director of Molecular pathology. She is currently the director of Molecular Cytopathology at MDACC. Her interests include pulmonary cytopathology, fine-needle aspiration (FNA) diagnoses, molecular diagnostics in solid tumors, and the application of ancillary studies and molecular diagnostics in cytopathology. Dr. Roy-Chowdhuri has presented several educational courses in national meetings, including the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP), American Society of Cytopathology (ACS), and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) as well as international meetings, including the International Congress of Cytology (ICC) and the International Academy of Pathology (IAP). She serves o the editorial board of the Achieves of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and Cancer.
Ayalew Tefferi, MD

Dr. Ayalew Tefferi was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and migrated to the United States in 1982 after completing his medical school education at the University of Athens in Athens, Greece. Dr Tefferi received his hematology training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota before joining the staff at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Division of Hematology in the Department of Medicine. He is currently a full professor in hematology and internal medicine.
